BAYOU CORNE - Health and environmental officials scheduled a community briefing tonight to for Bayou Corne residents evacuated due to a sinkhole near their homes.

DHH and DEQ, along with parish officials, said they will specifically address health concerns residents had previously brought up. They will not have information about updates on the sinkhole itself.

A well venting gas from a nearby salt dome had to be shut down recently when workers detected poisonous gas coming from the dome.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tonight at the Assumption Parish Community Center, located at 4910 Hwy 308 in Napoleonville, next to the Assumption High School.
