BATON ROUGE- Louisiana Community and Technical College System President Joe May says his schools are facing historic cuts.

Louisiana House members reduced the budget by an additional $268 million dollars in an attempt to get rid of one-time dollars.

Dr. May says that could result in $42 million less for community and technical college campuses.

Baton Rouge Community College Chancellor Dr. Andrea Miller says if the cuts are approved, students can expect larger classes, a reduction in part time faculty and the elimination of many weekend and evening courses.

Many students are working their way through school and expressed concern about those moves.

The next fiscal year starts July 1st.  Higher education officials say they will only have 2-3 weeks to address the budget change if the money is not restored to the budget.
