BATON ROUGE - The DA wants to adopt even more out-of-state tactics for curtailing crime.
The latest is a homicide review commission designed to dig into the causes of murder. The idea comes from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to Hillar Moore, a commission of 60 to 80 people, consisting of officers, criminologists and community members, looked at 2 years of murders from every angle.
They took into account causes like drugs, education, even the economy.
Working with that information, Moore says Milwaukee cut it's murder rate by 40 percent.
"The more that we're out there talking about it and teaching it, that people are accepting it saying, 'Alright, I'm gonna give it a chance,' because what we're doing now is obviously not working," said Moore.
Moore meets with the Milwaukee commission coordinators this week to get things started.
