BATON ROUGE- Commercial fishing for large coastal sharks is closing.
Louisiana's Department of Wildlife Officials said the official close was set for Friday night at 11:30 in state waters. And, the state news release said, the National Marine Fisheries Service was set to close federal Gulf of Mexico waters at that time as well.
No re-opening date has been set in state or federal waters.
The large coastal shark group is composed of the great hammerhead, scalloped hammerhead, smooth hammerhead, nurse shark, blacktip shark, bull shark, lemon shark, sandbar shark, silky shark, spinner shark and tiger shark.
