Colorado vs. Utah in ski slogan
SAL LAKE CITY, UTAH- What's in a name led to a legal fight that ended in a settlement over winter sports marketing.
Steamboat Ski Resort in Colorado sued, claiming a Utah advertising campaign violated its trademark involving the name Ski Town, U.S.A. Utah dropped the "USA" from its Ski City campaign to make it less similar as part of the settlement. Utah says its campaign is designed to lure tourists in the lucrative winter sports industry away from Colorado with its urban dining and nightlife.
Steamboat in Colorado says the deal was amicable.
