College Football: Shreveport's 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl to be held Dec. 31
SHREVEPORT - The 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl will be played Dec. 31 at Shreveport's Independence Stadium, with kickoff set for 11:30 a.m.
With the Dec. 31 game date, the bowl will be played on New Year's Eve for the eighth time in the bowl's 38 year history.
The game will be televised on ESPN, marking the 22nd consecutive year the bowl has been televised on an ESPN network. ESPN first televised what was then called the Independence Bowl, in 1992, featuring a 39-35 Wake Forest victory against Oregon.
In a statement Friday, John Hubbard, the 2013 event's chairman, said the game date should be appealing for those traveling to Shreveport-Bossier for the match between ACC and SEC foes.
Officials say the bowl is in its final contract year with the conferences.
