John Issac Davis was sentenced to 23 years in federal prison after admitting to helping smuggle 33 pounds of cocaine into the Baton Rouge area. Authorities found the drugs during a traffic stop in May 2008. Authorities said Davis recruited two women to drive to Texas at least 97 times to pick up loads of cocaine. Davis and accomplices smuggled a total of about 1,500 pounds of the drug worth $14 million from Texas.
