Cocaine seized at BTR airport
BATON ROUGE - Law enforcement agencies seized around 72 pounds of cocaine and arrested three men they said were transporting the drugs through Baton Rouge to Atlanta in a small plane.
Louisiana State Police and federal customs agents arrested Vincenzo Salzano, his son Armando Salzano, and Mohammad Iman Nekouie, all of Colorado, after they stopped their plane at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport Tuesday afternoon.
State Police said federal authorities had been tracking the plane, which was owned by Vincenzo Salzano, since it took off from a Texas airport near the border with Mexico. Investigators said it left Atlanta early Tuesday morning for Texas, and was on the return trip when it was stopped.
The plane's pilot wasn't arrested, because investigators said they were unaware of the drug shipment.
