BATON ROUGE - The Old Misssissippi River Bridge is back open after a loose barge struck it earlier today.
Inspectors and divers found no damage to the bridge after it was hit, according to Sheriff Mike Cazes from West Baton Rouge Parish.
Cazes said four barges broke loose from where they were moored in a group of 25 vessels, and only one struck the bridge earlier this afternoon.
That barge was secured but is taking on water; crews are attempting to stop that at this time.
There were no injuries during the incident.
