Coast Guard suspends search for MS River canoer
PORT ALLEN- The Coast Guard suspended its search for a missing canoer, who was possibly last seen canoeing across the Mississippi River.
Kevin "rooster" Guy was last seen Friday night. He told friends as he left a concert in Baton Rouge, he was riding his bike to the river where he left his canoe and was going to canoe home to Port Allen. They never heard from him again.
People on the levee reported seeing a man canoeing across the river around the time Guy would have been canoeing home, but the Coast Guard could not confirm whether or not it was Guy.
The USCG used a helicopter and boat in the river to search for Guy, but it turned up nothing. The search will resume if there are any significant developments in Guy's disappearance.
