LAFITTE- An emergency situation near the Gulf of Mexico has ended, according to the Coast Guard.
Last Tuesday, a tugboat and barge collided with a pipeline causing an explosion and a fire that burned for days.
The four crew onboard the tug escaped, but the captain sustained second and third-degree burns.
Today, the Coast Guard reported the emergency response ended. But, monitoring will continue for any potential environmental impacts. A salvage plan is also being drafted to lift the tug from the bottom of Bayou Perot since it sank after the crash.
