BATON ROUGE - Southern University football Coach Dawson Odums sat down with Whitney on Tuesday to talk about the Jags' success and his future.
Odums led the Jaguars (9-4) to the SWAC Championship in his first full season at the helm. It was the team's first title since 2004. He believes the success is already helping the team in recruitment, which gives Southern a chance to be even better in 2014.
Odums was intregal to the teams turnaround from a 4-7 to conference champs in just one season, and other teams are taking notice. It became known last week that his alma mater, North Carolina Central University, asked Southern Athletic Director William Broussard to speak with Odums about their vacant coach position.
Odums said he thinks his job at SU is one of the best in the country, but would not comment on the situation at this time.
