Coach Breaux, Hall claim top SEC gymnastics awards
BATON ROUGE - LSU Gymnastics head coach D-D Breaux has received the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year award, and senior Lloimincia Hall has earned the SEC Event Specialist of the Year award in a vote by league coaches, according to an announcement from the SEC office Thursday.
Breaux, now a seven time winner of the award, shares the coach of the year title with Auburn Gymnastics' Jeff Graba.
The award claimed by Hall has now been given out twice since its creation. She won the coaches' vote through her No. 1 performer on floor ranking in regional qualifying score (9.975) and season average (9.941). Now at the end of a four year collegiate career, Hall is the second gymnast in conference history to win four SEC titles at the same event and holds 31 career titles on the floor, which is the most in the school's history.
Head Coach Breaux led fourth-ranked LSU to a 13-1 overall record during the 2015 regular season, along with a perfect 7-0 conference mark that made LSU history.
As an entire unit, LSU broke many school records this season, achieving the highest score since the program began. They finished second at the SEC Championship as they went on to the best team finish since 2005. Four gymnasts appeared on the All-SEC Team, a second for the program.
