WALKER- People who knew Jeffrey Reynolds told News 2 he seemed like a regular guy and never expected he would be accused of trying to murder his wife and unborn child.
"From what I got to know about the guy, actually a real responsible guy, and from what I heard yesterday it was completely out of character and I knew it had to be something else that caused a mental lapse or something like that," said Gareth McMurray, who used to work with Reynolds.
Livingston Parish Deputies arrested Reynolds Tuesday afternoon after they found him kneeling over his wife, her throat slit and their unborn baby ripped from her stomach.
"I got to tell you it makes me sick to my stomach, to think that anyone could do that to an unborn life and that baby was alive and that baby would've lived, had he not killed it," said Deborah Oubre, who lives nearby.
Now the people who knew Reynolds are trying to wrap their minds around what deputies say he did.
"You could tell he had an imagination, but that was put away when he was a child and grew up, but you could tell he was a responsible citizen," said McMurray.
Reynolds was charged with feticide and attempted murder. He faces a maximum of 65 years if convicted on both charges.
