Clothing, blood-type can make you mosquito magnet
BATON ROUGE - Researchers have identified certain factors that could make you a more tasty target for mosquitoes.
Research shows that blood type plays the largest role. Mosquitoes land on people with Type-O bloods twice as often as those with Type-A. They landed on people with Type-B blood the second-most.
The clothing you wear is also a factor. If your outfit has a lot of black, dark blue or red, you look more appetizing to the pests.
A factor that you can not control is body temperature. Mosquitoes are drawn to pregnant women and people who just exercised because their temperature tends to be higher.
The report comes after mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus in both West and East Baton Rouge Parishes. No human cases have been reported. Experts predict more mosquitoes than normal this year because of high water.
There have been no positive reports of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes in Ascension and Livingston Parishes.
