BATON ROUGE - Jurors in the George Grace federal corruption trial could be charged with the case late tonight.

Prosecutors are finishing the last of their closing arguments now, and the jury will be charged after a dinner break.

Grace, the former mayor of St. Gabriel, is accused of using his position for personal gain.  Prosecutors said he accepted bribes and did favors for an undercover FBI operative posing as a corrupt businessman.  Defense attorneys argued that the operative blew Grace's involvement and actions out of proportion.

Grace himself testified he considered his interactions with the operative to be one friend helping another, and he didn't believe his actions were "official" acts as mayor.

The trial has gone on six weeks now.

We'll have more updates on this trial tonight on News 2 at 10 p.m.
