Clinton man dies in apartment fire
CLINTON - Investigators identified a wheelchair-bound man who died this morning in a Clinton apartment which caught fire.
The Clinton Fire Department said 47-year-old Christian Phillips died in the fire at the Clinton Manor Apartments today.
Firefighters received the call around 7:18 a.m. and were on scene five minutes later. They said the fire was mostly smoke, and was extinguished quickly.
Investigators said the apartments have a good safety record and Phillips' unit had a working smoke alarm. His body was taken to the coroner for examination.
