BATON ROUGE- The daughter of a Metro Council member was fired from her job at the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court Office after money disappeared from the office.
Kelly Collins, the daughter of Donna Collins-Lewis, was let go after an investigation showed mismanagement of money.
A sheriff's office report said this happened for almost a year. The clerk's office found multiple cash transactions didn't have proper documentation and more than $3,500 was missing from the lawsuit accounts department where Collins worked.
"Any shortage of public money is serious to the clerk's office and they took serious actions. (They) looked at all the transactions and they did what they could," said Sheri Morris, the attorney for the clerk's office.
Collins paid the money back, and no charges were filed.
