A new program offered by utility provider Cleco could mean a 25 percent discount to low-income customers.
The company says customers who meet certain income guidelines can apply to receive the discount on the fuel portion of their bills for July, August and September.
Customers must apply at one of the area's community action agencies either this month, March or April to qualify.
The company estimates 30 percent of their customers could qualify.
