BATON ROUGE- Friends of Samuel Barth, 17, remember a smart and funny high school student, and said his life was cut short.
Barth died Monday afternoon in an accident on Jefferson Highway.
Baton Rouge Police said Barth was driving south on Jefferson at a high rate of speed when he lost control, hit an electrical pole and flipped his car.
"Very bright kid. Funny kid. Just fun loving," said classmate Adam Prevot. Prevot attended Catholic High with Barth.
"We will remember him," Prevot said, "he was important to us."
Many students chose to use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to post their thoughts and messages to Barth's family.
Tuesday, Catholic High will have grief counselors available for students to talk about what happened and help them cope.
