Classes resume at college after bridge collapse
WEST MONROE - Classes at the Louisiana Delta Community College in West Monroe have resumed after a bridge collapse this weekend.
Ouachita Parish Public Works employees have created a detour around the bridge.
The News-Star reports that the bridge on Vocational Parkway collapsed late Saturday under the weight of a Police Jury track hoe. It had been sent after a motorist reported a depression in the bridge. There were no injuries.
Public Works Director John Tom Murray said the bridge replacement will take up to four weeks, depending on the weather.
Vocational Parkway provides the only access to the campus and a handful of businesses.
