A man charged with lying to the FBI about the deadly shootings on a New Orleans Bridge following Hurricane Katrina will plead guilty later this month, his lawyer says.
Prosecutors say Marion David Ryder III of Opelousas falsely claimed he was chasing a group of people near the Danziger Bridge when one of them fired a gun at him.
Prosecutors say nobody fired at Ryder and he never saw a gun.
Ryder pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Friday.
But his attorney, Edward Lopez, says Ryder will plead guilty at an April 28 hearing as part of a plea deal.
