Civil rights leader T.J. Jemison dies at 95

BATON ROUGE - Theodore Judson "T.J." Jemison, a civil right leader, died on Friday at an area hospital. 

Hall Davis, of Hall Davis & Son funeral home, said the family is in mourning and has not made firm funeral arrangements.

Jemison was a pastor at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church in Old South Baton Rouge.  He also led a bus boycott in the Capital City in 1953 that was the foundation for the famous bus boycott on 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Jemison was also friends with Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hall Davis & Son will handle the arrangements when they are finalized.

Jemison was 95-years-old.
