City eyes funding to expand congested street
BATON ROUGE- The city hopes to get help from federal and state agencies to widen Nicholson Drive south of LSU in the future.
There was a meeting about the project Thursday night, but no one showed up while WBRZ News 2 crews were there.
Nicholson, between Brightside and Gourrier, could be four lanes. There is no timetable on when the construction could happen.
The Department of Public Works said there is not much funding for the project currently and hope for outside money to get the project moving.
In 2014, turn lanes will be added to help ease congestion at intersections south of campus.
