The parish chief information officer is accused of bypassing contract bid laws and giving preferential treatment to certain companies that installed and maintain the city’s crime surveillance camera system.

Donald Evans has been added to a lawsuit challenging the cameras. Millions of dollars have been spent on the surveillance equipment, which includes cameras and gunshot detection sensors. It’s designed to provide a security canopy over an eight square mile area.

News 2’s Mike Steele got answers on how the suit could be a factor in future decisions about the system.
