Church will collect donations for family who lost house in plane crash
BAKER- New Covenant Christian Center will collect donations for a family who lost their home when a plane fell from the sky Friday afternoon.
"I was just glad that I was obedient to the voice of the Lord," Michael Smith said about calling his sister, who lives in the house that is now burned rubble. He had a feeling to call her minutes before the crash and ask her to leave the house on Rue Jennifer.
"I pretty much told her to go to the church... And I took my niece to basketball practice," he said.
"I'm blessed that the Lord said to 'get out,'" Tasha Smith said.
Smith's house was severely damaged, if not destroyed, in the crash. Two other houses were hit by the plane as it went down.
Professional pilot John Fowler was killed.
