DENHAM SPRINGS - Police in Denham Springs said today they would make every effort to help voters access a polling location for Saturday's runoff election, even though it would be blocked for a time by the city Christmas parade.

Denham Springs' parade rolls from the city high school to Florida Ave. at Veterans Blvd. Starting at noon, police will close North Range Ave. from Cockerham Road to Florida Ave., and Hummel Street from Florida Ave. to North Range Ave. Police said Florida Ave. would stay closed from Range to Veterans Blvd. while the parade is running.

That will affect Denham Springs Elementary, one of the voting places for tomorrow's runoff election. Police said voters should access the school by taking Hatchell Lane to Centerville Street, and then to Cedar Street where they can access the school.
