WBRZ - Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE - Police responded to a shooting this afternoon in Baton Rouge that injured a woman and child.

It happened just before 5 p.m. at 1824 Ryder Lane. According to DA Hillar Moore, the victims were a 28-year-old woman and 11-year-old girl. He said they were walking down Ryder when a man jumped out of a vehicle and started shooting at them.

The mother was hit in the torso, while the child was hit in the leg. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Police haven't released any information about the shooter at this time.
