WATSON - Livingston Parish sheriff's deputies said a child was hit by a car and died in Watson.

Sheriff's office spokesperson Lori Steele said 6-year-old Tyler Myers was playing on a scooter in the Lakes at Belle Terre subdivision Monday evening when he was hit by a vehicle pulling into a driveway.

"We're not sure if he was riding by on his scooter or fell down in his driveway, we just know that he was on his scooter," said Sheriff Jason Ard.

Myers was transported to a hospital where he died.

The driver was returning home from work when he pulled into his driveway and hit Myers.

"As of right now, everything is pointing toward an accident, but we want to investigate that as thorough as possible to makes sure that's what it's going to be," said Sheriff Ard.

The community plans on holding a vigil at the ballpark in Watson at 7:00 p.m.
