Child predator sentenced to 99 years
HOUMA - A Houma man has been sentenced to 99 years at hard labor after pleading guilty to eight counts of molestation of a juevenile and eight counts of production of child pornograhphy.
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell announced that sentence today of 35 year old Scott Thomas Massey.
He was indicted by a Terrebonne Parish grand jurey last year as part of an undercover investigation between the Attorney General's Office and the Terrebonne Sheriff's Office.
The AG's office said the investigation revealed that Massey had been recording videos of himself fondling numberous children while the children slept.
Judge Randall Bethancourt ordered that the entirety of the sentence be served without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
Assistant Attorney General Kurt Wall, who prosecuted the case, praised law enforcement and the families involved.
"This is a horrible thing for the families of the victims to have endured. Their courage and resolve are to be commended," Wall said.
Attorney General Caldwell stated, "Our highest priority is making certain that people who commit crimes against our children are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
