Child playing with lighter torched home Tuesday
BATON ROUGE - Firefighters blamed a child, playing with a lighter for a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of Doolittle Drive, off Staring Lane. The first group of responders arrived to find a bedroom and hallway inside the home ablaze, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said in a news release.
No one was injured in the fire.
Damage is estimated at half the value of the home.
Investigators did not release the exact age of the child, but said they will be counseled and placed in the Juvenile Fire Setters Program. Read more about the program in a recent WBRZ story HERE.
