Child killed in head-on collision

An 8-year-old girl was killed and her mother was critically injured in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler.
It happened Saturday afternoon on I-10 westbound near Grosse Tete.
State Police say 39-year-old Steven Key was driving east on I-10 when he crossed the median and crashed into an oncoming 18-wheeler.
Key and another passenger suffered minor injures. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.
State Troopers are investigating what caused the crash but say the roadways were wet at the time of the accident.
