Child killed in ATV crash over weekend
CENTRAL - A 6-year-old child was killed in an ATV accident Saturday night in Central along Keystone Avenue.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says Kohen Kleinpeter, 6, was riding on back of an ATV known as a "Bad Boy Buggy" with six other people Saturday night.
Investigators say the adult driver lost control, and when it flipped Kohen was killed and his sister was rushed to the hospital with injuries. It happened around 9 p.m. Neighbors in the area say the streets were block for hours after the incident.
"Immediately ,I started praying for whoever was injured and for the parents, said Linda Cooper. "It's really heartwrenching and my prays go out to those parents and family members."
Family friends say Kohen was a fun loving child who will be greatly missed.
"Kohen was the sweetest kid that any parent could ever ask for," said Eaan Green, family friend. "He always said please and thank you, and he loved his dad and he's going to be missed."
Family friends say they plan to establish a gofundme page for the family as they make arrangements to lay Kohen to rest. Some say they believe speed was a factor but it's still undetermined what caused the ATV to flip over.
Kohen would have turned 7-years-old on the 20th of this month. His sister is still recovering from the accident.
