Child in critical condition after being hit by car exiting school bus
BATON ROUGE- A child remained in critical condition, six hours after he was hit by a car while he was crossing the street after getting off a school bus Wednesday afternoon.
The boy, a 7-year-old first grader at Sharon Hills Elementary, was hit in the 5300 block of Cadillac Street at the intersection of Simplex. Investigators said the child was exiting the bus, stopped northbound on Simplex, and darted across Cadillac where he was hit by a sedan.
The driver, a 24-year-old woman, was traveling east on Cadillac, police said. She did not have stop sign.
The crash is still under investigation, and police did not say if the driver will face any traffic charges.
