Child hit by Caddo school bus dies
SHREVEPORT - Shreveport police say a 6-year-old boy has died after being hit by a school bus.
Cpl. Marcus Hines says Brenden Houston was pronounced dead at University Health Medical Center Thursday afternoon.
Hines says Houston was hit after he exited the Caddo Parish school bus.
He says the driver, 59-year-old Debra Kay Stevens of Hosston, was detained by police for a routine toxicology screening and questioning.
Hines said police did not suspect the driver of being impaired.
He says investigators are in the process of reviewing video surveillance from the bus for further details on what events led up to the accident.
Houston attended Herndon Magnet School.
