Child dies in 2 vehicle crash in Washington Parish
VARNADO, La.- Louisiana State Police say a 4-year-old child died in a head-on collision on La. Highway 21 in Washington Parish.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. Monday.
Trooper Greg Marchand says a car driven by 26-year-old Linda D. Beard, of Foxworth, Miss., was southbound, crossed the center line and hit a car driven by 55-year-old Joan Ezell.
Marchand said Lavonne Darlene-Theresa Beard of Frankinton was improperly restrained in a booster seat by the lap belt only and received fatal injuries in the crash.
Linda Beard, Ezell and a passenger in her car, Robby Burke, suffered serious injuries in the accident.
Marchand said the accident remains under investigation. He says Linda Beard was booked with two counts of negligent Injuring and other charges are pending.
