Chief of police says he was grazed by bullet
BELLE RIVER- The Sorrento police chief is recovering after he was grazed by bullet in Assumption Parish Thursday. Details of the incident were released Saturday.
Chief Earl Theriot told WBRZ News 2, he heard what sounded like a gun shot and felt his neck burn. His injuries are described as minor, and did not go to a hospital.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff said deputies are investigating, although there were no other similar incidents reported.
Theriot believes he was hit by a stray bullet.
He said he was fine, and it did not change his plans for the extended weekend and will stay in Assumption Parish until returning to work next week.
