BATON ROUGE - The hearing is set for Monday morning surrounding the former Baton Rouge Chief of Police Dwayne White and his firing.
Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White a letter Wednesday, listing more than a dozen reasons they want him fired. The letter's 14 points include accusations of nepotism, destroying potentially-sensitive documents, and leaking confidential information or making inflammatory statements to the media.
Holden also said in the letter White is still technically an employee of the city, and on paid administrative leave pending the hearing.
During a press conference, White's attorney Jill Craft said his termination had been due to politics between the mayor's office and police union. She said White tried to transfer the union president to a position which "required work," who went over his head to complain to Holden.
