BATON ROUGE - A state appeals court has reinstated attempted murder and other charges against two managers of Baton Rouge-based rap music label Trill Entertainment.

Attorneys for Melvin Vernell Jr. and Marcus Roach say they will appeal Wednesday's ruling to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Vernell and Roach, both 37, are accused of trying to kill a rival rapper in 2005. They were charged in September of that year.

The charges were dismissed a year later, but new charges were filed in 2009. A judge threw the charges out, saying prosecutors waited too long to try the men after the initial charges. But The
Advocate newspaper reports that the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal said the two-year time limit for trying someone began anew once the latest charges were filed in 2009.
