BATON ROUGE - A judge dismissed charges today against the owner of Wanda's Daycare over the 2009 death of D'Myion McElveen, a child who had been left in a van parked outside the daycare for several hours.

Prosecutors asked that the charges be dropped, saying it would have been difficult to prove Wanda Connor, who wasn't at the daycare when the incident happened, was equally culpable as the two daycare workers involved, Kyandrea Thomas and Michelle Veals.

The victim's mother, Betty McElveen, was in court for the decision today. She said she understood and accepted it.

The two workers pleaded guilty to negligent homicide charges this past April, and were given a suspended five year prison sentence, five years of probation and 10,000 hours of community service.
