The Louisiana Commission on Streamlining Government is scheduled to take up two recommendations involving the Department of Transportation and Development.
One involves reducing the number of DOTD districts by two. There are currently nine. That could reduce the number of sites and office workers needed for the department's current locations.
A second recommendation involves reducing the number of DOTD vehicles by 20 percent. That plan involves making more pool vehicles available or renting cars when necessary.
The commission should consider these plans later today.
