Central Thruway set to open June 2013
BATON ROUGE - The Central Thruway is scheduled to open next year as work continues on the project.
It is broken up into two phases. Right now, the Green Light Plan website shows Phase One is complete. However, our cameras captured concrete still missing on a large part of it.
City Parish leaders said although most of Phase One is complete, it can't open until Phase Two opens. Workers with the city parish said surface streets would not be able to handle the extra volume.
Drivers told News 2 they are ready for traffic relief.
"It slows you up from getting to work, school or wherever you may need to go," One resident said.
"It will probably save me a good 15 minutes or something like that because it brings you straight to the interstate," Jenna Zimmer said.
