Central drainage project surpasses halfway mark
CENTRAL - Local officials say the City of Central is more than halfway through its efforts to curtail flooding in the area.
According to the city website, six of the nine planned work packages have been completed as of this week. Work on parts of Sanders Bayou, Draughan Creek, Beaver Bayou, and Shoe Creek have been completed. Crews are now working on Blackwater Bayou and the remainder of Beaver Bayou.
The project began back in August and may be completed ahead of schedule, before the end of 2017.
