WASHINGTON - Officials say they are actively monitoring 76 hospital workers in Dallas who may have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan or his blood when he was being treated for Ebola.

Dr. Tom Frieden of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that doesn't mean they were directly exposed to the virus.

Health officials had previously identified 48 people who had had some contact with Duncan before he was hospitalized and also have been monitoring their health. Frieden says none has any signs of Ebola - and they now are two-thirds of the way through the incubation period, the riskiest time frame.

He says that makes it much less likely that any of those people will get sick, although monitoring will continue for the full 21 days to be sure.
