CATS under investigation by federal agency
BATON ROUGE- The Baton Rouge bus system CATS, is under fire for chartering its vehicles for use by employees, breaking federal rules, as we told you exclusively last night on NEWS 2 at 10.
The Federal Transit Administration is now investigating CATS.
Tuesday, interim CEO Bob Mirabito alerted the CATS board that certain rules could have been broken.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation the FTA could take federal grant money away from the bus system.
"The federal money coming into the system is a large percentage so to put any of that at jeopardy is going to be a big issue that could really hurt us," said board member, Jared Loftus.
Mirabito plans to meet with leaders of the FTA next week about the investigation.
