BATON ROUGE - Residents who use public transportation may notice some changes to the service soon.

Board members of the Capital Area Transit System will discuss Tuesday increasing fare rates and a new route structure for next year.

The price of a daily pass could increase by 25 cents while weekly passes could go up three dollars. Transfer fees may also be eliminated.

The Metro Council would have to final approval.

The changes are part of a plan by Interim CEO Bob Mirabito to streamline operations and to improve route navigation for riders.

Voters approved a property tax last year to help fund the system.
