CATS to consider spending thousands to lease new office space
BATON ROUGE- Capital Area Transit System leaders will discuss leasing more office space for staff and extra parking spaces for additional buses at a meeting Tuesday.
CATS, which is funded through a controversial property tax, is considering occupying one floor of Mid City Towers, formerly Dean Tower, a 14-story office building at the corner of Florida Boulevard and Cloud Drive. The board will also consider leasing parking spaces for twenty buses.
The board meets at 4:30 p.m. to discussion the options.
The lease for 5,442 square feet of office space is for two years. For the first year, CATS would pay $73,500 - about $1.13 per square foot. The second year, CATS would spend $79,500 - about $1.22 per square feet.
The parking lot rental will cost about $12,000 a year.
