Search for permanent CATS CEO begins

BATON ROUGE - The CATS board accepted Bob Mirabito's resignation and named his interim replacement at a special meeting Friday afternoon.

William "Bill" Deville, who has more than 30 years of transit management experience and has been with CATS since December 2013.

Deville started as the Chief Operation Officer and Project Manager through MV Transportation and was retained once the MV contract expired.  Deville will take over as CEO on an interim basis following Mirabito's last day, May 6th.

“I am happy to take the role of interim CEO for CATS and continue the work we are doing to make transit better in Baton Rouge,” Mr. Deville said.

Mirabito resigned Tuesday following three years at the helm of the Capital Area Transit system. He received a raise a year ago and had two years remaining on his contract, but said in a letter to the board that he was looking forward to returning to the private sector.

According to CATS Board President Jim Brandt, CATS plans to begin the search for a permanent CEO "as soon as possible" and will consist of both CATS and community stakeholder representatives.

The search committee will consist of the following members: Ken Perret, Chair – CATS Board, Jim Brandt – CATS Board, Donna Collins-Lewis – CATS Board, Linda Perkins – CATS Board, Adam Knapp – Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Edgar Cage – Together Baton Rouge, Chris Tyson –LSU Law professor and former CATS Board member and President, Naomi “Katie” Guy – ATU Local 1546 President, and Cordell Haymon – Center for Planning Excellence Board Chairman, and a representative from the CATS Riders Association to be named.

Mr. Deville will serve as the interim CEO for CATS until a permanent replacement has been named. He will earn a salary of $150,000 while in the role.
