BATON ROUGE - The Capitol Area Transit System met Tuesday to discuss a recent audit that detailed over-spending, unaccounted for payments, and poor record keeping.

The board in charge of the taxpayer-funded system also examined how new CEO, Bob Mirabito, is doing thus far.  CATS has been under new leadership for about a year.  Prior to the change in administration, money was managed incorrectly and records were sloppy.

Mirabito said he's made changes that have improved the company and he's doing everything he can to avoid another scandal in the future.

"I think we have a lot of work to do, but I'm happy with the progress we've made," Mirabito said.

"We've made more progress in the last year than there ever has been at CATS.  For that I'm thankful but everyday we have a new challenge, and there's a lot of work that needs to be done."
