BATON ROUGE - Capital Area Transit System CEO Bob Mirabito stopped by 2une In Tuesday to talk about ridership numbers and National Dump the Pump Day.
Over 400,000 passengers boarded CATS buses in April and May this year. That is an increase of nearly 27,000 from a year ago.
Mirabito hopes National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 19th will boost this month's numbers. On that day, people are encouraged to ride public transportation to save money, instead of driving your car. It was started back in June 2006 when gas prices sky rocketed.
